Electrum Model E Stealth Series Paddle Review
By Elizabeth Hagy
‘Tis the season for new paddles! Recently, many big and small companies have been releasing new paddles with new technology. Electrum is one of those companies and they just released the Electrum Stealth Series. Their website describes this new series of paddles as, a “fully edgeless raw carbon fiber paddle series, uniquely created for enhanced maneuverability, quick hand speed, and powerful pop.” The Electrum Model E Stealth Series is an upgrade to the Model E Elite, which was previously Electrum’s top-of-the-line paddle. The stealth is the same shape as the original Model E (elongated), but is made with an innovative foam filing placed around the perimeter of the paddle. Unlike the foam injection that other paddle companies use, Electrum claims that this process gives the paddle enhanced maneuverability and precise control.
When I first saw this paddle I was impressed with how it looks. The edgeless profile of the solid black surface with a geometric thin-lined design that highlights the blue outline of the Electrum logo in the center gives this paddle a great look.
Model E Stealth Specifications:
Core thickness: 16mm
Swing Weight: 105
Weight Range: 7.6 - 7.9 oz
Handle Length: 5 1/2”
Grip Circumference: 4.25"
Paddle Length: 16 1/2"
Paddle Width: 7 1/2”
New Features:
Whole Cell HoneyComb Condensed Core
Electrum FoamFit Technology - Perimeter foam filling
Carbon Strip Edges
The first thing I noticed about the Stealth Model E is the paddle’s low swing weight of 105. This made the Stealth Model E feel light and quick to maneuver, especially at the net. The Stealth has a 16mm core that makes control feel effortless with this paddle. For me the Stealth Model E plays like a control paddle- more effort had to be given to get power on my shots but dinking and resets came easy. Ironically this paddle is fast at the net, unlike many other 16mm control paddles. However, the Stealth Model E’s elongated shape means a smaller sweet spot than its wider and shorter counterparts. Though, if you are used to this shape paddle you will probably find it easy to hit the sweet spot.
Overall, the new Electrum Model E Stealth is a sleek-looking modern tech control paddle, with a low swing weight. This is a good paddle for an intermediate or higher-level player who wants a control paddle that is quick at the net.
